Breathing Earth

This animated thing shows on a map the statistical rate of births, deaths and CO2 emissions. Kind of cool.

Tax the Rich, He Says

I don't know who this guy is, but it was an interesting read. He says the US is due for another revolution a-la Egypt if we don't tax the rich much more heavily and stop them from having all the fun, darnit!! Because they really don't need or use all that money. Of course, he and I are not on the same philosophical page.

My favorite part was his suggestion (granted, probably not fully fleshed out) that tax cuts lead to higher youth unemployment. "1. Warning: Super Rich want tax cuts, creating youth unemployment" I don't really understand that connection. Do any of you? You know what really does cause youth unemployment? The minimum wage. Youth are the least skilled workers and the majority of minimum wage workers. Because of their low skill set, they are often not worth paying $7.25 (at least) an hour. Therefore they aren't hired. Get rid of, or significantly lower the minimum wage and BING, the kids are worth hiring.

Let the Elections Come

It's been a month since I've written anything on this internet. Yet, life has continued on just alright. With that in mind, here's a little something:

Supposedly Huckabee is leading in this Gallup poll as a potential 2012 Republican candidate. Personally, I think he's a political lightweight who plays far too heavily to the Christian Right crowd (of which I guess I would be a member of because I am a Christian and on the Right). Romney is a candidate with more political clout, but has this aura of elitism which I don't think he does on purpose and will find difficult to shake. Pawlenty and Daniels however are dudes with serious records that prove their capabilities and (as far as I know) have personal characters to match. I am sure Huckabee is a very intelligent man with an very personable character, but I can't see him able to go toe to toe with a heavy hitting liberal who knows his stuff, whereas Daniels, and maybe Pawlenty and Romney, could match that kind of a debate.

Thus far, Obama has only his charm working for him and a handful of his campaign promises fulfilled. Like, being nicer to the world and stuff. Also that massive health care bill. We shall see how the upcoming presidential election will go for him. Supposedly he's working towards spending $1 billion on it. Obama stuff everywhere! It'll be a fun time!
